Philippine Airlines (PAL) has selected IBS Software's cloud-based iCargo platform to replace its current cargo system, with the implementation intended to extend across the carrier's domestic and international cargo operations.
IBS Software said the deployment will support PAL's modernisation programme, covering capabilities that serve the airline's full range of business functions. According to the vendor, iCargo will handle cargo movements in both domestic and international operations, including international requirements such as customs reporting, duties and taxes settlement, and regulatory compliance.
Planned scope
- Domestic and international cargo movements handled within one system
- International compliance tasks, including customs reporting and duties and taxes settlement
- Operational priorities named by the airline, such as system performance and data analytics
IBS Software says iCargo already supports carriers facing a similar combination of domestic and international demands, providing the flexibility, scale and capability to manage both. The vendor describes the platform as enabling faster shipment processing, greater reliability and end-to-end shipment visibility while reducing manual intervention.
Airline's view
Jason Siy, vice president for cargo business at Philippine Airlines, described the initiative as an important step in the modernisation of the carrier's cargo business. He said that as PAL grows across its domestic and international network, it needs a system that increases visibility, improves operational efficiency and allows it to deliver a better experience for customers. Siy added that the airline sees iCargo as a key enabler of its long-term cargo transformation strategy and of its ambition to build an even stronger cargo business.
Implementation timing and commercial terms were not disclosed in the announcement.
