ELEGOO has introduced the M1 Ultra, its first all-in-one smart 3D scanner, moving the Chinese 3D printing brand beyond printers and into capture hardware. The device went on sale on October 29, 2026, at a retail price of USD 1,699, with early-bird pricing of USD 1,599 available through November 12.
ELEGOO positions the scanner for professional work including customization, reverse engineering, education, digital archiving and other creative projects. Co-founder and Vice President Kevin Wang said 3D scanning opens new possibilities for capturing and working with physical objects, and that the M1 Ultra is intended to combine precision, versatility and workflow efficiency in one integrated solution. The company framed the launch as a step in expanding its 3D creation ecosystem and connecting physical and digital objects.
Accuracy and capture hardware
The M1 Ultra is specified with blue laser scanning accuracy of up to 0.02 mm and volumetric accuracy of 0.02 mm + 0.06 mm/m, a level ELEGOO characterizes as metrology-grade. The company lists an all-glass optical system, intelligent temperature compensation and high-precision camera calibration as measures to keep performance consistent, while global-shutter cameras are used to reduce motion blur and distortion during capture.
The scanner records colour alongside geometry, using 24-bit full-colour texture mapping with image signal processing (ISP) optimization so that an object's appearance is captured together with its shape.
Five scanning modes
Five modes are provided for different objects and tasks:
- 34-line blue laser: medium-to-large objects.
- 7-line blue laser: fine detail on small-to-medium parts.
- Single-line blue laser: deep holes, narrow gaps and other hard-to-reach areas.
- Infrared structured light: face, body and general object scanning.
- Marker-free blue laser: surfaces where applying markers is impractical.
The scanner is rated for objects from 5 × 5 × 5 mm³ up to 4,000 × 4,000 × 4,000 mm³. ELEGOO also states that black and metallic surfaces can be scanned without coating powder, which it says adds flexibility across materials and environments.
Portable body and software workflow
The handheld unit carries a 3-inch HD touchscreen for on-device operation and Wi-Fi 6 for wireless scanning. A 4,800 mAh swappable battery supports up to 1.5 hours of wireless use. ELEGOO says the lightweight, ergonomic body is intended to make it easier to move between workspaces and scan objects in different settings, such as capturing components for a design project or documenting physical objects for further digital work.
ELEGOO SCAN software handles the path from capture to a usable model, with guided setup, tracking assistance and multi-scan alignment, followed by automated one-click processing for mesh wrapping, mesh optimization and colour mapping. Scan data can be exported in STL, OBJ, PLY and ASC formats for use in compatible third-party software, which ELEGOO says eases the transfer of scans into downstream design, modelling and manufacturing workflows.
Pricing and regional availability
The M1 Ultra is available now. Standard retail prices are USD 1,699, EUR 1,699, GBP 1,399, CAD 2,399 and JPY 299,999. Early-bird pricing from October 29 to November 12 is USD 1,599, EUR 1,599, GBP 1,319, CAD 2,299 and JPY 284,999.
Consumer brands widen into scanning
The launch places ELEGOO among desktop 3D printing companies extending into capture. Creality used IFA 2026 in Berlin to present a lineup spanning multicolour printing, filament recycling, resin printing, 3D scanning, laser processing and 3D printed footwear, including the Pika 3D scanner, which pairs a seven-line blue laser with near-infrared scanning in a 260 g body, with accuracy to 0.03 mm and scan speeds up to 110 fps.
Other suppliers are pushing professional-grade features toward lower price points. Revopoint's Trackit SR wireless scanner offers marker-free optical tracking metrology, a category historically dominated by high-cost industrial systems, with single-frame accuracy of 0.02 mm and three scanning modes, including a Deep Hole Mode using a single blue laser line. 3DMakerpro has focused on ease of use with the Toucan all-in-one scanner, which allows users to scan, edit and fuse complete 3D models without a computer.
